Why I Stopped Meditating & Started Screaming
sometimes we need meditation & other times we need to scream | upcoming meditation events
Hi friend,
Ever notice how easy it is to fall into the same patterns?
Wake up, work, check boxes, take care of everyone + everything else, go home, shower, go to bed. Rinse & repeat.
We’re out here doing so much—for work, for family, for everyone who needs us.
But are we doing for ourselves, too?
Are we also including ourselves on our to-do list?
Are we checking in w our own needs the same way we show up for everyone else’s?
Like what about you?
If you’re being honest w yourself, when’s the last time you paused long enough to ask yourself:
“How am I doing?”
I know for me? I catch myself in this cycle all the time because it’s easy. But easy doesn’t always mean it’s what I actually need.
And the only way to know what I do need… is to check in.
Because needs change. Some days it’s rest—stillness, breath, meditation, just being.
Other days, something like meditation isn’t it, and instead it’s movement —journaling, talking, dancing, or even letting out a good cathartic scream in the car (yes, really 😅).
The point though is this: we have needs. YOU have needs. And those needs will shift. But you’ll never know what they are and you’ll never know what it is you truly need, unless you take the time to check in w yourself.
That simple act—checking in—is how we step out of autopilot and back into ourselves.
And you can even try it right now. It only takes 30 seconds to check in.
Try This:
Close your eyes.
Take a breath.
Tune in.
Ask yourself:
“How am I doing?”
See what comes up for you.
If you want to go a little deeper, you can also ask yourself:
What is my body asking for in this moment?
Do I need quiet + stillness, or do I need to let something out?
What’s one small way I can give myself what I actually need today?
And then after you try the prompts, if you’re open to sharing, hit reply and let me know what came up for you. I’d love to hear what you discovered.
If you want a guided way to check in? I’ve got you—see below for upcoming practices.
