Idk who needs to hear this but the phrase “time heals all,” only applies to us if we are actually doing the work to heal.
The reality is, unless we are truly willing to process our deeply rooted, irrational beliefs about ourselves (such as, “I’m not good or strong enough,” or “I’m just anxious or always stressed…it’s just the way I am,” time won’t do anything for us but pass on by.
As some of you may know, a couple of years ago, I lost a very good friend of mine. It was my first real lost and that shit was tragic. I didn’t know how to feel, what to think, & I just wanted to run far away and never stop running. I couldn’t process the reality of her not being here. I was numb. I was angry. I was sad. And I refused to accept it but the longer I denied the reality, the more painful it felt in my body.
Time didn’t heal my grief, time just passed. It wasn’t until I sat with myself, to feel & to understand that I was able to finally accept it into my reality so that I can heal. Since then I’ve experienced 3 more deaths in my life but because I’ve acquired the tools needed to process grief effectively, I’ve been able to heal through the hurt much more readily. It’s not easy my friend, trust me I get it, but it’s possible.
Need support? Therapy is a good starting point. If you can’t afford one, there’s free crisis support lines you can reach out too. Meditation is another great strategy to implement into your daily routine—it builds resiliency and allows you to see things more clearly. Or reach out to me & we can together devise a plan of action for you to tap into that power you most definitely have deep within.
Time is just a man made construct to try and make sense of the world. It doesn’t heal us though. Time presents us with the opportunity to either bury our pain as deeply as we can or face it head on & to work it out and heal. Your choice.
Here’s a PDF I created for you to have in handy just in case you or anyone you know is experiencing a crisis. This is not a full list but just a few that I personally find helpful. A google search can offer you more options if you wanted to go that route.
Just in case you missed it on my IG— here’s a video on 4 myths about suicide that I find important to raise awareness on in debunking. Check it out:
✋🏽Not to interrupt you in your reading but:
How would it feel to pause & breathe right now? Let’s take a moment. I invite you to use this opportunity to take 3 deep breathes—
Take a deep breathe in, really allowing the air to enter through your nostrils to reach & fill your lungs. Then on the out the breathe, release slowly, relaxing your shoulders, muscles, and body as you do so. Try this 2 more times.
Mindful Challenge

Try this: You can do this anywhere at anytime you feel safe & able. Take a deep breathe in & on the out breathe, just imagine you’re melting away; trying to envision all of your worries, anxious thoughts, and anything that doesn’t serve you just leaving your body simultaneously.
Was it hard to do? Did you feel a sense of relaxation after? What about it did you like? Didn’t like? Share in the group. I would truly love to hear about this experience.
Mindful Approach
This is a video that I created a few months ago & I feel that the algorithm didn’t do it justice. So here I share with you my perspective on fear & anxiety and how to approach it with mindfulness. It was curated as a video for my job but the message can resonate for literally anyone. Let me know your thoughts. Share in the Private Zen Weekly group so we can all talk it out. ❤️
Mindful Reflection
What’s helping me get by this week:
Gratitude: I’m finding that gratitude is really helping me out especially under the conditions that life has presented me with this past week. For those of you who follow me on Facebook, you may be aware that a few days ago, I got news a friend of mine passed away due to cancer. No death is easy. But here’s where gratitude comes in…I’m grateful first off to have allowed myself to acquire the tools needed to process emotional discomfort in a much more smoother & effective way. I’m also grateful to have befriended her and knowing her for as long as I have. I’ll forever cherish the memories.
Music: To me, music saves. When it comes to healing, it’s not easy but adding additional self care strategies into the mix can be very effective. What better time than now to implement music more readily into my days. This weekend, I’m enjoying Tomorrowland’s Digital Festival Experience (an online EDM virtual FIRST IN A LIFE TIME show) and it’s giving me life. Do you edm? Did you attend the virtual event? Does music help you in your healing journey?
A quote: “Sometimes it’s not about trying harder, but rather about allowing yourself to let go.” I find this quote helpful sometimes it’s not about doing more or making sure we’re working harder, But rather about allowing ourselves to just be. To step back and breathe & realize we’re only human. We can only do so much. This quote is helping me grasp this truth so that I can navigate this week with calm & ease.
