It’s time to start celebrating yourself — THIS is why
It’s a celebration. The celebration of YOU!
Hi friend!
Are you someone who’s really hard on themselves? Do you beat yourself up if you don’t get everything done on your “to-do” list? When your body wants to rest, do you listen? Or do you keep it pushing?
Something many of us too often overlook & forget to gift ourselves is the gift of — honoring, celebrating, acknowledging, & noticing ourselves for the big & small things we do.
Allowing ourselves moments to pause, to acknowledge and celebrate ourselves for just being alive is SO important.
The fact that we wake up every single day, go through the motions, doing the basic things that needs to be done, even when we aren’t feeling the best — is something that’s worth to shed light onto.
Life can be rough sometimes. Our cups aren’t always full. Some days we feel like complete poop….where waking up even can sometimes feel like a battle.
And so that’s why doing something as ‘simple’ as getting out of bed, choosing to try this thing called life again, especially in those moments where we really don’t feel like doing anything… IS enough & is worth celebrating.
Choosing to be embodied and present to your life even when you’re tired, or when your resources are low, or when you’re just moving through murky waters IS an achievement & IS worth honoring.
There’s great benefit in choosing to celebrate yourself even when you feel like you haven’t “done much.” Because what you’re doing is training your mind to start noticing more of the “little wins” you create for yourself. And after awhile of making this a habit, your brain subconsciously automatically starts to celebrate & acknowledge all of the things you are doing, the big and even the small….rather than focusing on what you haven’t done or haven’t done “good enough.”
It’s okay, if not immensely skillful to create the to-do lists. You may even be someone who considers themself an over achiever, who loves to keep themselves moving forward….and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to achieve your goals, aspirations, dreams. That’s important.
…but what about when your mind, body, spirit reaches its limit?
What about when your body shuts down because of exhaustion?
Do you still keep going anyway?
If so, what would it be like to honor what your body truly needs, not only in the moments when you feel depleted, but really at alll times?
Because when we honor ourselves, and listen to what our body and spirit needs by checking in— we actually do more for ourselves then if we don’t.
Celebrating yourself for just being is healing and you my friend deserve to honor all parts of you….even if it means doing nothing at all.
“….when we honor ourselves, and listen to what our body and spirit needs by checking in— we actually do more for ourselves then if we don’t…”
And I’d like to also add that celebrating yourself doesn’t mean you’re celebrating your actions or how much you do…celebrating yourself is simply honoring WHO YOU ARE….A HUMAN BEING, despite how you show up.
Here are a few questions to ponder on that offer an example of some things we consider “small” but are actually worth celebrating:
Did you wake up today?
Did you eat breakfast?
Did you shower?
Did you fold your clothes that have been sitting in the corner of your room for a week now?
Did you reply to an email?
Did you get your kids on the bus for school?
Did you clean the dishes?
Or did you choose to do nothing at all and stay in bed all day?
If so, then you did what you had to do and that is enough! And I’m honoring and celebrating you my friend!
How about you though? How will you honor yourself for being a human?
If you struggle with this idea of celebrating yourself, acknowledging yourself, honoring yourself — please be easy. If this is something you’ve never done, it may seem challenging to start at first. And that’s okay. You didn’t know better. Now you do though & that’s what counts!
You don’t have to throw a big party for yourself with confetti and a cake for brushing your teeth today but you can at the very least acknowledge your humanness.
My friend YOU are so worthy of taking on this practice for yourself from here on out. Because at the root— celebrating you is a basic form of self respect & self love….and you deserve alll the respect & all the love.
Don’t forget that!
