How to practice mindfulness in 2022 💙💙💙💙
You can be more zen with these ten mindfulness practical activities
Hi friend,
Did you know mindfulness is something literally anybody can practice anytime, anywhere?
This week I would like to share a few ideas with you on how you can apply mindfulness more readily into your life, without the hassle of getting into meditation or having to get your chakras aligned.
These are mindfulness activities that I enjoy & practice myself and I believe they can be activities you can enjoy too!
The beauty of these activities also is that truly virtually anybody can practice them….anywhere, anytime.
Now as a reminder — Mindfulness is an act of being fully present to what’s happening right here, inside your body, head, spirit, environment, & it’s experiencing the moment FULLY….just as the moment is. Without judgement or criticism. It’s simply noting the here & the now.
See the list of activities below.
Which one stands out for you? What would it be like to take the activity on so that you can experience the essence of mindfulness would be like for you:
Drawing/doodling/writing — you can practice this ANYTIME. And be aware of what it’s like for you to draw. What does it feel like? What are your thoughts saying? Is there judgment? Are you feeling proud? What’s it like? Get a paper & and saw doodling, with a pen or with crayons. — anything. See what happens..
I spy — wherever you are (whether it’s inside or outside) simply start labeling things you see. So first notice— what do you see? You see a tree? Name the tree. You see a power line? Say power-line. Just look. You can do this with a friend too— say something you see then the person can find where it is. You may notice yourself judging the exercise. You may think or say things like, “why am I doing this. This is so dumb.” Notice and note that. Label that too.
Listen to music — listen to something you love. Or maybe something you don’t love. And experience it. Listen to the lyrics. The beat. The instruments. How do you respond when you listen to the music in this way. Do you notice your body moving? Or not? Any feelings come up? Thoughts? What’s happening?
Watch videos on YouTube—As you’re watching the video, how are you feeling? What do you notice? What are your thoughts saying? Where do your thoughts go? Do you feel good? Bad? What’s happening? Thoughts wandering? When you notice, bring it back. What was that like for you when you became distracted?
Eating/drinking — maybe you’re eating candy? Idk. But let’s say you are. When you open it, what’s the wrapper feel like? What’s inside? What’s the texture? Smell it. Taste it slowly. And ask yourself….what’s this like? What happens if you close your eyes and eat it? What about when your eyes are open? Does the experience change? What’s that really like for you? What happens? Where do your thoughts go? What feelings arise in your body?
Walk it out — literally. Just go for a walk. Notice the sounds. Notice what your body feels like. Notice the temp. The smells in your environment. The distractions. Notice where your thoughts get pulled too. What do your feet feel like? Are you waking fast? Slow? What’s that like for you?
Get yo hands dirty — what’s something that you can touch— something like dirt or play dough or slime or scotch tape or grass, ANYTHING. What do you notice about that experience? What’s it feel like? Is it slimy? Rough? Soft? What judgments come up? Do you think it feels weird? Strange? Relaxing? Be in that experience. What’s it like to be there doing that?
D A N C E — this can produce SO much self judgment, especially if you’re not used to just dancing out of random. See if you can give yourself permission to just dance anyway. Maybe dance to some music. Maybe a song you already know and love. And just wild out. Pretend this is the only moment that matters & be with it. Notice your thoughts though throughout. What comes up for you?
Shower — experience that moment. Experience ALL of it. Notice alll of the water droplets that are landing onto your body. And the soap. What’s the texture like? Smell? What happens to your energy before you get in the shower compared to when you get out? If a shift happens, when does it happen? What’s the temp like? What happens to your skin? Do your fingers get wrinkled? When does that happen?
Being here — what’s this very moment like for you?
You can take on any or all of these activities & you will be practicing mindfulness. Consider what comes up for you— and if you like you can even journal about it. Have fun with it, too. Life doesn’t have to be so serious alll the time.
I would love to hear about your experience if you choose to practice any of these activities. Feel free to share what it was like for you. You can always reply to this email or DM me on social.
May you have a beautiful & mindful-like day & week. Sending you love & blessings.
Namaste.
