Hi friend,
What does Memorial Day mean to you?
I was pondering on that question myself and what came up for me was this:
Memorial Day offers us an opportunity to put mindfulness into practice. We do this by intentionally creating time & space to be present with & aware of the day —to remember & honor those who have passed on while in service to this country.
This day also offers us an opportunity to pause & feel gratitude, even if only for a brief moment. Pausing to extend appreciation for our own lives and how we get to live it, creates a space where we get to honor ourselves, as well as, honor the lives of our fallen soldiers.
And lastly, Memorial Day can also be a time where we can look to the sacrifices and honorable actions we’ve taken in our personal lives in efforts to maintain freedom. We can recognize, that while this day places the focus onto the men and women who’ve lost their lives for a vision they had towards establishing a free society, there are people who are still alive, currently, fighting to keep that vision alive. And whether the fight continues in combat or generally within society — heroes exists & still walk this earth today, ourselves included, & we/they deserve to be acknowledged and honored as well.
So again, I ask you, what does Memorial Day mean to you? How do you celebrate this holiday? In what ways do you honor the honorable? How can you integrate this energy in your everyday life?
To alll the men & women who serve our country, whether it be in war or in the general population, and whether alive or not, thank you. Thank you for your bravery, strength, courage, and heart. You are recognized!
And to you my friend— may this week offer you all the love and blessings you deserve!
Namaste.
